The design team of Lisa Kolstad and Tone Talke took the world by storm in the early 1990's with their bright vibrant sweaters based on traditional patterns from Norway.  Here we offer a complete kit to knit one of the designs from their book,

published in 1992.  In their own words "the stripes in this sweater are actually narrow cables worked in red and black.  At the front is a triangle of birds.  The stripe cables area a small, somewhat indistinct design in which the colors seem to blend.  There are much bigger areas of color in the bird design, which explains why that part of the sweater stands out.  The edges are knit borders with embroidery.  A sweater with nothing but striped cables would be boring, and the bird triangle by itself would not be as attractive.  Together, the two designs interact in an exciting look."   Knit in four shades of Rauma Finullgarn, a fingering weight (also called Shetland weight) 100% wool yarn made in Norway.  The pattern comes in four sizes - M to XXL.  Knit in the round with classic fair isle technique.  Suitable for experienced knitters comfortable with traditional two and three color in a row technique. The pattern calls for an average tension of 27 stitches and 32 rounds to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 3 (3 mm) needles.
